I’ve been debating if I want to still be on this site and in the fandom communities for a little while now, and so I’ve been away for a bit while I gather my thoughts.
I won’t go into it too much: I’m seeing a lot of toxic drama over minuscule issues, as well as idea theft, aggressive bullying, and elitism amongst other things, and these are harmful things to encourage within a group of creators.
In the biggest, grandest scheme of your entire life - as it has been and what it will be - someone’s fandom character or interpretation of something will most likely have little impact on what you achieve and the person you will become. This is not to nullify or minimise whatever you may be feeling at the current point, as your emotions are as valid as the sky is blue on a cloudless summer day; however, I feel as though some perspective is needed sometimes.
Will you remember this conflict in five years time? Ten years time? Will this still make you angry or upset as it does now, or will it become different as things change over time?
I’m grateful for the people I’ve met - negatively and positively, as every person brings a learning experience with them, but I think with this that I’m done. Maybe this will change later on, and I’ll feel ready to dive in again, who knows.
I will still keep my personal project blog open, and get to work on starting that, but I’m out on this account. Thank you everyone for everything, and have a good day.
